OUR VISION
To be the living, breathing Body of Christ in this place and time– selfless, challenging,
inspiring, healing, comforting, prayerful, united and charismatic – drawing countless
numbers to God.
OUR MISSION
Strengthened by the Holy Spirit, we the members of St. Vincent de Paul Church, are called through
our Baptism to grow in the knowledge of our faith; live, celebrate and share our faith and
extend our God-given gifts beyond our parish community. In the spirit of our patron saint,
we commit ourselves to “doing all things in charity and love.”
OUR VALUES
In pursuit of our mission, we are compassionate, generous, welcoming, spiritually engaging,
collaborative, vital and fiscally responsible.

Lenten Reflections:
February 21 - First Sunday of Lent
Deuteronomy 26:4-10
Psalms 91:1-2, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15,
Romans 10:8-13,
Luke 4:1-13 (Jesus is tempted by Satan in the desert.)
How surprising it can seem to us that Satan uses Scripture to tempt Jesus, and yet in this
gospel passage we hear Satan using Psalm 91 in his argument! What a strong caution this is
to me in how I use Scripture to support my opinions, and how important it is to be a part of
a community of faith that offers guidance in the ways in which Scripture and Tradition are
related.
How do I read scripture? Do I seek out help in understanding how Scripture and Tradition are
understood in the Catholic Church?
